Daniel Arsham Talks to Semaine About How Being Color Blind Has Affected His Art and Personal Life

The video also sheds light on how the EnChroma glasses could change his work in the years to come.

Online magazine and concept store platform, Semaine recently did a feature on contemporary artist Daniel Arsham to reveal how his color blindness relates to his artwork. The short documentary explores Mr. Arsham’s condition from his childhood till now, as he finally receives a pair of color blind-correcting EnChroma glasses. The result is getting to see the world in a different light, which could change his works in the future since Daniel is widely known for only utilizing monochrome hues.

In fact, it was only earlier this month that he showed the use of other colors for his pieces in the recent “Circa 2345” exhibition. All in all, it’s pretty interesting to see how the prolific visionary has had to cope with his condition, yet still churn out some of the most breathtaking art ever seen today. Now with a newfound perspective, it will be quite the adjustment for him to come up with fresh concepts in the other disciplines he’s known for such as interior design and consumer products.
