Taschen Has Released the Ultimate Issey Miyake Monograph

Coinciding with a retrospective exhibition at Tokyo’s National Art Center.

Naomi Camobell’s The Art of Beauty isn’t the only comprehensive monograph on tap for a release from publisher Taschen: Issey Miyake also has a hefty tome on the way as the iconic Japanese designer takes a look back at his storied career. The definitive history of the designer’s unique fusions of poetry and practicality, Miyake’s eponymous publication — conceived by Midori Kitamura — draws on over four decades of work, even highlighting the early days of his career prior to the establishment of Miyake Design Studio. Chock full of stylish photography from Yuriko Takagi, the monograph also includes a lengthy essay by Kazuko Koike — one that’s part personal profile, part chronology — and coincides with a retrospective exhibition at Tokyo’s National Art Center.

The stunning 512-page monograph is available online now while the corresponding exhibition will remain on display through June 13.
