This Mixed Media Sculpture Emerges From the Wall in Università Bicocca in Milan

Street art and sculpture interact ingeniously in this artwork with a powerful message.

Mural art is undoubtedly a powerful medium with its often imposing size and attention-grabbing imagery. However, Italian sculptor Edoardo Tresoldi and artist Gonzalo Borondo have managed to improve on this by combining the two disciplines of sculpture and mural art in this collaborative piece titled Chained. Depicted on the wall in broad brushstrokes are five men embracing each other in a huddle, while a sixth man pulls himself upwards from the wall above, becoming a three-dimensional figure in white wire mesh. This artwork thus conveys the notion that cooperation and collective effort can overcome any obstacles. The mixed media installation is now available for viewing at Milan’s Università Bicocca.
