Snarkitecture Turned the National Building Museum Into a Ball Pit

With one million translucent plastic balls.

Snarkitecture (a duo consisting of Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustonen) has taken it upon itself to create another stunning installation piece. This time, the installation spans a whole 10,000 sq ft. of space at the National Building Museum, with the duo filling the space full of recyclable translucent white balls. Named “The Beach,” the project aimed to transform the museum’s great hall into an immersive sensory playground inspired by seaside fun. According to Snarkitecture, it was “an exciting opportunity to create an architectural installation that reimagines the qualities and possibilities of material, encourages exploration and interaction with one’s surroundings, and offers an unexpected and memorable landscape for visitors to relax and socialize within.” The entire experience is completed with white beach chairs along the “shore,” while visitors can lounge or play in the “ocean.” Take a trip to the National Building Museum, with the installation on until September 7.
