Shanghai will be welcoming a monumental sculpture by artist KAWS next month — the first colossal piece by KAWS to be in Mainland China. Launching in partnership with fashion department store Lane Crawford and curating company AllRightsReserved, the exhibition is one of the Brooklyn-based artist’s largest sculptures to date, and was recently held in Hong Kong. It depicts KAWS’ iconic “COMPANION” character standing seven meters tall, holding two smaller COMPANIONS in his arms. In coordination with the launch, Lane Crawford will be releasing a KAWS limited edition collection comprised of hand-painted canvas bags, canvas cushions, gray and white cotton T-shirts, and mini plush dolls that are limited to 1,000 pieces. The collection is made with natural and sustainable materials, and each item features the “CLEAN SLATE” character.
