Tristan Eaton and Kamea Hadar Create "Pele, Maila, Hina" Mural in LA

Hawaii-based artist Kamea Hadar and renowned Los Angeles painter Tristan Eaton recently teamed up

Hawaii-based artist Kamea Hadar and renowned Los Angeles painter Tristan Eaton recently teamed up for an unorthodox mural project in the latter’s home city. The indoor installation, dubbed “Pele, Maila, Hina,” celebrates Hawaiian culture with the depiction of Pele and Hina – the goddesses of fire and moon respectively. The burning hibiscus flowers featured here represent Hawaii’s struggle in holding on to its traditional culture in a modern world. After inviting select guests to witness the painting process – a guest list that included CYRCLE, James Jean and Miss Van – Eaton and Hadar surprised audiences by signing and buffing their work in the same day. Enjoy photos of the piece above.
