LA-based contemporary artist RETNA — born Marquis Lewis — has a solo art exhibition at the Hoerle-Guggenheim Gallery in New York City that kicked off earlier in February. The exhibition, titled “Articulate & Harmonic Symphonies of the Soul,” showcases RETNA’s important work from recent years and a selection of new pieces. One could expect to encounter canvas pieces with the artist’s familiar scripture-like artwork that plays with visual language and evokes mystery. Featuring a variety of mediums such as oil paint, enamel, glitter, aerosols and acrylic paint, the collection is consistent in style while paintings vary in size and color as the artist plays with varying contrast in calligraphy and background color. RETNA’s exhibition is held at the Hoerle-Guggenheim Gallery in Chelsea, New York until March 12.
