Texas is about to get a taste of Hawaii when POW! WOW! journeys to Austin for a massive art exhibit at this year’s SXSW festival. The project — done in collaboration with SXSW and SprATX — joins members of the POW! WOW! network together with local Austin artists for a series of of murals that will be painted around SXSW’s home city. The roster includes Australian artists Meggs and Rone, Brooklyn-based painter Tatiana Suarez, along with well-known Austin natives Lucas Aoki, Ana Maria, Mouf and Truth. The project will give each artist the freedom to inject their own personal style and visual aesthetic onto various walls around the city, where it will be visible for the tens of thousands of festival-goers converging on Austin for the annual SXSW festivities.
