Never far from exciting art-led initiatives, POW! WOW!‘s latest cavort takes to the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. Teaming up with local art collective SprATX, the collaborative project brought together local artists like Mouf, Truth, and Lucas Aoki alongside international talents like Rone, Yoskay Yamamoto, Meggs and Ron English. Transforming the walls on Red River Street, Barton Springs Road, Ceasar Chavez Street and Fruth Street into immersive renditions, the murals added bursts of energy to the cityscape, engaging the public and festival attendees throughout the six-day painting process. Following a successful first year, POW! WOW! and SXSW hope to team up annually, with the aim of adding art as the fourth leg to SXSW’s music, film and interactive scheduling.
