Sculptor and painter Dustin Yellin shreds $10,000 USD for artwork. Teaming up with artist collective the Bazaar Teens, Yellin produces a controversial new work of art, in which he feeds an anonymous donor’s $10,000 USD donation through a wood chipper, the shreds of which are then pasted onto eight canvases. Aptly titled The Riches of God’s Love unto the Vessels of Mercy, the piece expresses Yellin’s objective to not only track how value is performative but also to observe the general public’s perception of the value of artwork. As part of New York City’s curator-driven art fair the Armory Show, Yellin’s work is scheduled to be debuted at the Spring/Break Art Show on March 4.
