Three months prior to John Lennon‘s sudden death, photographer Kishin Shinoyama joined Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono on a sunset stroll through New York’s Central Park. The result of the day outing was the album cover of the couple’s final studio LP Double Fantasy. Contrary to popular belief, considering the album cover has been the sole outtake from the impromptu shoot released to the public over the course of the last 30 years, there still remains many more photographs from that day. An official count puts the number at a staggering 800. For the first time ever, the pictures will be unveiled in the pages of Taschen‘s latest publication Kishin Shinoyama. John Lenon & Yoko Ono. Double Fantasy. Out later this month, the book’s price begins at $700, while Edition A and Edition B will respectively retail for $1,800 USD.
