Craig & Karl have created a new installation in Chengdu, China, named “Sweet as One.” The installation encompasses 13 tons of candy, and takes up a 14,000 square-foot space aiming to celebrate Chinese New Year. Curated by Hong Kong creative studio AllRightsReserved, the art piece hopes to bring awareness to the plight of underprivileged children in rural areas. With a variety of symbology, the piece pays homage to Chengdu with blooming flowers, which symbolize good luck, to pandas, which are native to the area. Stretching a whopping 607 feet long by 23 feet wide, the piece took five days to complete with over 2,000 volunteers filling small squares with colored candies. Organizers plan to donate meals and the candy from the exhibition to the underprivileged. Check out more of Craig & Karl’s work on their website and Instagram.
