Electric Objects Lets You Create Real-Time Digital Art
The new Soho showroom will feature artists like Bjork, Ai Wei Wei and Zach Gage.
Digital art pioneers Electric Objects, famous for its E01 computers displaying real-time framed artwork, are opening up a showroom in New York’s Soho neighborhood titled Electric Objects IRL. The company aims to prove that digital art has a place in people’s homes through its first brick-and-mortar location. The team has partnered with the Art Club Commission Program to create over 200 new and original works of art from over 50 artists from around the world through the brand’s native E01 platform.
Artists like Bjork, Ai Wei Wei, Zach Gage, YACHT and Sabrina Ratte, among others, will have their works displayed in the physical showroom. Visitors can interact with the pieces and get exclusive access to a limited-edition handmade wooden frame for the EO1, designed specifically for Electric Objects IRL. The frames can be mounted or fitted on stand and allow users to easily swap out art through videos and GIFs on their phone. The showroom is currently open, along with EO1 window displays which can be seen at the New Museum Store in the Lower East Side.
