Adam Lister Shares New Pixelated Paintings of Famous Renaissance and Modern Artworks

Inspired by works from Da Vinci, Raphael and Manet.

We’ve shared numerous pixelated paintings by New York artist Adam Lister in the past, whose works range in inspiration from 19th and 20th century art to contemporary culture tableaux. In his latest 2016 collection of watercolor images, Adam has recreated four iconic paintings from history rendered in his signature 8-bit stylization. Drawing from the enlightened artworks of the Renaissance period, the new series includes Leonardo da Vinci’s Lady with an Ermine and Raphael’s La Velata. To round off the set, the artist has also included reworks of esteemed 19th-century painter Édouard Manet: Bar at the Folies-Bergère and Olympia. Known as one of the trailblazing masters to shape modern art in its formative years and inspire the beginnings of Impressionism, the two Manet works chosen by Adam here are pivotal images that explore the concept of the male gaze and invoked much controversy upon their initial debuts. If you’re interested in owning a work of art from Adam, prints from his 2016 collection are now available for purchase here.
