Stray Matter's Latest Short Is a Meditation on the Substance of Air
The Vancouver filmmaker draws attention to how we are destroying the substance which keeps us alive.
Previously featured here for his look at the life of a contemporary neon-maker in Vancouver, filmmaker Stray Matter returns with a slight change of pace in his latest short, Air. Shot in the lush coastal temperate rainforests of British Columbia using a Sony A7s and a DJI airborne drone, the short draws attention to the degradation of the very air we breathe by heavy industry. Cut to shots of an individual running through a landscape of pine trees, a monologue accompanies the film in which the narrator speaks to the intimate connection between our bodies and the Earth’s atmosphere.
