Street Artists Respond to the Paris Terror Attacks

Visually moving tributes to the people of Paris and France.

Art and visual expression has a profound capability to heal and foster solidarity in the wake of disaster — this much has proven true in the aftermath of the previously unthinkable Paris terror attacks of November 13, as shown by the instantly viral Paris peace symbol created by Jean Jullien. Other leading names in street art also added their voices to the international outpouring of grief and support for the victims and the French people on social media in the hours following the attacks. Among them, Shepard Fairey’s print of a dove against the Tricolore, Seth Globepainter with the Parisian motto “Fluctuat nec mergitur” (meaning “tossed but not sunk”), and Huskmitnavn’s paper hands enfolding the Eiffel Tower. Browse the gallery above for each artist’s individual expressions of strength in the face of adversity.
