"Miles to Empty" Exhibition Showcases a Cardboard-Made Lincoln Continental

From 5,000 lbs. down to about 50.

Sculptural artist Shannon Goff has taken the covers off her “Miles to Empty” solo exhibition, running currently at the Susanne Hilberry Gallery until November 14. The centerpiece of the show is a 1:1 replica of her father’s 1979 Lincoln Continental, a car known for its American elegance and luxury at the time. The art piece is a symbol to the decimation and decline of production of Detroit’s at-one-time bustling industrial output in cars and other heavy works. While the symbolism is strong, the details both externally and within the interior of the vehicle are pretty amazing, with character and structural accuracy found in each spoke of the wheels to the counters and needles in the dashboard. For more information on Shannon Goff, visit her official site and be sure to check out “Miles to Empty” which also contains her work with both ceramic and clay.
