Memorieslab Partners With Ellen von Unwerth for an Online Photo Exhibition (NSFW)

Continuing the celebration of black-and-white photography and its fascinating power to immortalize life’s moments for an eternity.

Following the premiere of its first short film with Director Mathieu César, Memorieslab has partnered with renowned fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth for a conceptual online photo exhibition titled “BlackOut.” The second chapter in its “Treasure Today” campaign, this digital gallery continues the celebration of black-and-white photography and its fascinating power to immortalize life’s moments for an eternity.

BlackOut – representative of a temporary loss of memory – has been approached by Ellen von Unwerth in different photographic framings, all depicted in Black & White, showing that a woman with no memories is a woman with no future.

Carefully chosen by the photographer, the two models, Kasia Struss and Maaike Klaasen, endure a blackout in the middle of the Californian desert. A dramatic and post-apocalyptic adventure with nothing around but an abandoned gas station and blinding heat.

As a pioneer of a pictorial language that sublimates feminity, Ellen von Unwerth, pushes her boundaries once again by adding a layer of indisputable trauma to her heroines in the theme of memories, and a result of their loss.

Arriving at the exhibition is an experience itself: the visitor is immediately immersed in Ellen’s pictorial language exposed onto large format silver gelatin prints created and framed under museum glass by Memorieslab.

The 30 photos within the “BlackOut” story are available for purchase exclusively via the M Gallery on Memorieslab.com, six of which are signed by the artist.
