Shepard Fairey Paints 'The Jersey Wave' Mural
“The beauty and power of Mother Nature”
Renown wheatpaste artist Shepard Fairey is never far from creative endeavors. His 2008 Obama “Hope” artwork instantly became iconic upon release, while his Obey label continues to prove that the worlds of fashion and art can coexist in a multitude of ways. His latest mural takes to New Jersey’s Christopher Columbus Drive and Grove Street where large waves are painted on a five-story building as part of Jersey City’s public art program. “The mural is designed to symbolize the renaissance and the cultural wave that Jersey City is riding while also acknowledging its waterfront location and the beauty and power of Mother Nature,” said Fairey.
