Hailing from Spain, innovative young artist Alex Trochut brings his brand of immersive, witty visual trickery to the walls of Brooklyn’s Kinfolk 94. The installation, dubbed “Think Twice,” is based around the artist’s use of his specially-developed ‘binary printing’ technique. Binary printing, as the name infers, allows the artist to print two distinct images on top of each other – one visible in light and the other in the dark. As such, Trochut forces viewers to search for meaning in everyday images, with each dark-visible image – handcuffs concealed underneath rings, bullets underneath lipstick, etc. – inferring something about the first layer. Enjoy photos from the opening above, and head over to Kinfolk 94 in Williamsburg to catch this exhibit. “Think Twice” runs through August 17.
