Long thought to be lost forever, a collection of digital artwork created by Andy Warhol was recently uncovered by Carnegie Mellon University’s Computer Club in the archives of The Andy Warhol Museum. Now the club has documented the recovery of the works with a short film entitled “Trapped: Andy Warhol’s Amiga Experiments.” The latest installment of the Hillman Photography Initiative, “Trapped” sees the team of computer scientists, archivists, artists and curators going through the arduous process of extracting the individual files from decrepit 3.5” floppy disks, creating disk images and using an Amiga emulator to recover the nearly 30-year-old files – all of which were originally crafted by Warhol back in 1985 to demonstrate the then state-of-the-art software imaging tools of Commodore’s Amiga 1000.
