Longstanding graffiti artist JonOne presents a new exhibition titled “Cryptation” at Zurich’s Julien Kolly Gallery. Creating a series of paintings of different formats and sizes that stem from his sought-after graffiti work, JonOne looks to a myriad of colors and textures in his renditions. Blending familiar graffiti motifs with abstract techniques, the pieces resonate with JonOne’s tenure as an artist painting New York City subway trains in the ’80s, yet abstract shapes and strokes provide alternative moods — with names like Science of the Sea, Moments of Truth and Rulers being given to some of the work on display. The exhibition will run until March 22, be sure to check it out for yourself if you’re in the area.
