Rick Librizzi has long been a preeminent fixture on the New York street art scene from his days at the Art Students League and Cooper Union to becoming friends with cohorts Robert Motherwell, Andy Warhol and Tom Wesselmann to name a few. Presently with a resume that includes artist, poet, art dealer and curator, Librizzi has either created or encouraged cutting edge art since the ‘50s. As he prepares for his next exhibition, the legendary New Yorker spent an afternoon with aNYthing recounting his early days in the Lower East Side, from his inspirations to how the neighborhood has regressed over the years. Enjoy the above video interview and swing by the aNYthing store this Friday evening, February 7 for the opening of Librizzi’s show.
