Daniel Arsham "Welcome to the Future" @ Locust Projects in Miami

New York-based artist Daniel Arsham opened his latest exhibit this past weekend at Miami’s Locust

New York-based artist Daniel Arsham opened his latest exhibit this past weekend at Miami’s Locust Project. Titled “Welcome to the Future”, the installation transforms the gallery into an excavation site with a 3ft deep hole in the floor holding thousands of calcified 20th century media devices serving as artifacts, including boom boxes, electric guitars, SLR cameras, Blackberries, game controllers, VHS tapes and Walkmans among various others. Rendered in a variety of minerals such as crystal and volcanic ash, the artifacts are presented as archaeologic technological objects, in a manner that rewrites narratives of production, history and discovery. Check out the pics of the exhibit above and make sure to check it out if you’re in the area.
