24 Iconic Nike Shoes Photographed as Concentric Disks

Instead of undergoing the process of a full physical modification or the simple act of painting for an artistic rendering of sneakers, photographer Joost van Brug opted for capturing them being spun at high speeds on a pottery wheel. The result? Twenty-four of Nike’s most iconic shoes presented as blurred chromatic circles that resemble nothing of its original form. The effect was achieved via long-exposure photography, creating the whirlwind of vibrant discs you see before you. According to an interview with Co.Design, Brug’s inspiration for the project came from his curiosity to ”explore how much color is a factor when it comes to sneaker collecting, but in an abstract way.” Prints are actually being sold, so those who are interested in making a purchase can do so by contacting Reluct via e-mail at 24@reluct.com.
