Kate Upton Covers Vanity Fair's 100th Anniversary Issue as Marilyn Monroe

From her long, flowing locks to her bodacious curves, there’s something classically charismatic

From her long, flowing locks to her bodacious curves, there’s something classically charismatic about Kate Upton. The American model was handpicked to grace the cover of Vanity Fair for the magazine’s 100th anniversary issue. While comparisons with Marilyn Monroe were inescapable before, the internet will certainly marvel at Upton as she rocks a flesh-colored bathing suit, not unlike the dress Monroe sported in her now-infamous birthday song performance to President John F. Kennedy in 1962. Within the pages of the issue, Upton is photographed mimicking the very first issue of Dress & Vanity Fair, first released on October 1, 1913. With the cover shot by none other than Annie Leibovitz, essays from esteemed writers like Bill Maher, Dave Eggers and Kurt Andersen, and a wealth of retrospective content, Vanity Fair‘s 100th anniversary issue seems hard to ignore. Pick it up at New York and Los Angeles newsstands on September 5, and electronically on September 10.
