Art doesn’t have to take inspiration from the high-brow for an effective piece. Banksy proves exactly that with the latest installment of “Better Out Than In”: a quote from Ridley Scott’s Russell Crowe-starring drama Gladiator. Said Banksy of the Queens-set piece, “Some people criticize me for using sources that are a bit low-brow (this quote is from Gladiator), but you know what? ‘I’m just going to use that hostility to make me stronger, not weaker,’ as Kelly Rowland said on the X Factor.” Banksy’s ongoing New York “street residency” continues throughout the month of October.
