Former i.D art director Kobi Benzeri brings to light a forgotten type of commercial design in his latest offering Where Chefs Eat. This 700-page tome is a valuable insider’s guide to food from the world’s major cities. Published by Phaidon, the book contains 2,300 recommendations from acclaimed international chefs. Taking design cues from a 1960s British phone book - where space was sold at premium rates and CMYK standardized fonts stood in for images – the book features 10 individual typefaces and text boxes on the front cover alone, in addition to 50 fonts and a few custom-made renditions interspersed over the publication in monochromatic flair. Now you can work your way through a city’s best eateries with this encyclopedic tome. Where Chefs Eat is now available for $20 USD from Phaidon’s online store.
