Mayor Bloomberg’s proposed soda prohibition – a plan to ban servings over 16 oz.’s – goes to a vote at the city’s Board of Health this Thursday. In response to the potential ban, Mountain Dew partnered up with the New York Art Department to launch “Prohibition: New York City,” a subtle outdoor pop-art campaign featuring giant 17 oz. cans of Mountain Dew. The suggestive images, plastered in various high-traffic spots in NYC, serve as an interesting example of creative and commercial art converging as a means of sharing a perspective.
