Celebrating the newly-opened BAM Fisher wing of the Brooklyn Art Museum, artist José Parlá was commissioned by the museum’s own curator, Richard B. Fisher, to create a permanent installation for the building. Dubbed Gesture Performing Dance, Dance Performing Gesture, the piece was created on-site by Parlá and highlights his signature spontaneous style across an 11m x 2m canvas. Here, the Miami-born, Brooklyn-based artist speaks on the completion of the piece and the performative aspects of the work.
