Get acquainted with Jessica Hess. The San Francisco-based painter Jessica Hess is set to unveil a new body of work this Thursday, September 6 at Spoke Art Gallery in her hometown. Ahead of the show, this video showcases her collecting tendencies, providing both visuals into her collections and her own philosophy towards acquisition. Known for her photorealistic paintings of the graffiti-covered landscapes she encounters, her latest exhibition sees her step away from her traditional medium of oil on canvas in favor of gouache, a much more difficult medium. The use of gouache has allowed Hess to paint with greater vibrancy and brilliance, resulting in hyperrealistic scenes. Going beyond her trademark landscape scenes, the artist will also debut her new body of semi-figurative abstract studies. The show will run until September 29 and will also be available for viewing online at Spoke Art Gallery.
