Storied American footwear manufacturer Danner has deeply rooted ties to its home in Portland, Oregon. Since 1932 it has produced goods with the mantra “Crafting Higher Standards,” by utilizing quality, American-produced materials and locally employing some of the most skilled artisans. So it comes with no surprise that Danner decided to team with the Oregon College of Art and Craft (OCAC) students to create an art installation that celebrates the unique culture of craft in Portland. The result is a beautifully curated piece that arranges goods produced in and around Portland to spell out the phrase “Crafted in Portland.” Of course Danner supplied each “D,” both of which are covered in USA-grown premium leather. On September 20, Danner and the OCAC will display the “Crafted In Portland” installation at an event that fosters relationships with local artists and celebrates artwork crafted by hand.
