It’s estimated 15% of all artworks sold in the world are highly accurate fakes. Art Series Hotels — a small collective of Australian art-based hotels including The Cullen, The Olsen and The Blackman — have taken it upon themselves to highlight this unfortunate state of affairs with their “Which Warhol’s Warhol’s” campaign. By staying a night at any of the hotels, you’ll be given the opportunity to pick out a real Warhol out of a lineup of 10 pieces, the other nine being replicated pieces. If you’re correct, you could be the new owner of a $20,000 USD Warhol piece or as consolation, walk-off with a Tony Tetro-forged Warhol — a collector’s piece in its own right. This campaign follows up on last year’s “Steal Banksy” which encouraged patrons to try and walk out with a Banksy piece as part of a drive to raise awareness surrounding art theft.
