Having retired from fashion in 2005 before pursuing a career as an artist, Helmut Lang is set to open a new exhibition during the Frieze Art Fair in New York City this May. Curated by Mark Fletcher and Neville Wakefield and the successor to Lang’s previous sculptural displays, the new exhibition, “Helmut Lang: Sculptures,” will feature more than 20 brand new works in monochromatic color schemes of plaster, rubber, tar, foam and other materials. Meant to exude themes of both destruction and progression, the collection will debut at 24 Washington Square North on May 5 and remain on display through June 15.
