California-based artist George “EWOK” Thompson has unveiled his new series of paintings at the Known Gallery in Los Angeles. Titled “Pageantry,” the latest exhibition continues Thompson’s social commentary on the grotesque yet fascinating norms and institutions of society. In particular, the work is a critique of child pageants in which parents parade their “tiny princesses” to be judged by others – a timely critique considering the glut of child pageant shows on TV. Utilizing oil on canvas, these vibrant works can be seen at Known Gallery from now until November 3.
