The Hundreds Magazine Vol. 3 Issue 2 featuring Azealia Banks

Gracing the cover of The Hundreds Magazine Vol. 3 Issue 2 is none other than budding Harlem artist

Gracing the cover of The Hundreds Magazine Vol. 3 Issue 2 is none other than budding Harlem artist Azealia Banks. Banks had quite an impressive rise to fame throughout the latter parts of 2011, warranting attention from the likes of Kanye West even, as she looks to continue to build upon her already firm foundation of success. The California publication caught up with the former theater student to speak on a couple of fellow female artists in hip-hop. Since the interview took place, it has come to light that Banks doesn’t particularly care for “Gucci Gucci” rapper Kreayshawn, as is noted in an excerpt below, which also highlights strong words towards yet another lady emcee, Nicki Minaj.

Banks on her career aspirations: “I’m trying to be innovative, I want to be like Missy Elliott was, respected and accepted for doing her own thing.”

Banks on White Girl Mob rapper, Kreayshawn, amongst the rise of female rappers: “As much as Kreayshawn would love to be considered part of this ‘rap game,’ she’s not. I guess a part of me is kind of annoyed that those white girls are making these songs, and it’s like if these girls were black and making the same songs would you be that interested?”

Banks on Minaj: “The butt, the hair, the this, the that, all the other shit, like… As much respect that I have for her, we’ve seen you do this already, what else can you do?”
