Los Angeles graffiti goliaths, Risk and Retna of Mad Society Kings infamy, have teamed up with Heal the Bay, a charity working to keep the Santa Monica bay clean and free from pollution. Their contribution features an awe-inspiring installation two months in the making that feature wooden fixtures with ocean-themed hues, accompanied by Retna’s now infamous lettering. The not-for-profit project was facilitated by Adam Corlin, a fourth-generation Santa Monica resident who snatched up the million dollar property and knew he had the perfect canvas for artists of Risk and Retna’s caliber. The result: a 40 x 100 foot painted abode. For those of you wanting to check it out, roll through 825 Berkley St., Santa Monica, CA. Rumor is, Corlin is facing a $5,000 a day fine for letting known “vandals” participate in the process. In Detroit they let dilapidated houses burn and no one cares. In Los Angeles they add a priceless piece of work to an abandoned house and everybody cares. Don’t go West, young men.
