Acclaimed British illustrator and toy designer James Jarvis releases his first graphic novel in five years. Titled De Profundis, the graphic novel follows a beaked artist’s quest through a wilderness to arrive at an abandoned city. Jarvis, who came to prominence during the soft-toy revolution, studied at the Royal College of Art at the University of Brighton before creating his immensely popular Amos Toys. While some may consider De Profundis a deviation from previous projects, enthusiasts and curators alike can appreciate the juxtaposition of the novel’s personal narrative themes and signature James Jarvis artwork. The 80-page narrative is slated for a November 1, 2011 release date through PictureBox Publishers.
