South-African photographer Pieter Hugo held a special book signing yesterday at colette. Coming off his first solo exhibition in France, the Cape Town-based creative signed copies of his books “THE HYENA AND OTHER MEN” and “NOLLYWOOD”, while also showcasing his series Boy Scouts, Orlando Pirates and Catch Congolese Wrestlers. Pieter Hugo portraits three “communities”, each characterized by distinct outfits and accessories; these dress codes and props are used to express aspects of personality, the belonging to a group or to a value system. For those interested, the exhibition itself runs through July 3rd, 2010 at colette.
