Painter and graffiti artist Barry McGee has earned the respect of his peers and any and all proprietors of art in general. His works have seen the biggest of stages, but this time around it’s the Oakland Museum of California that gets the indulgence of housing McGee’s latest offering. His propensity to cluster paintings and arrange them in completely arbitrary manner have been highly influential and exactly what he’s showcased here in this video – a collage of brightly coloured geometric designs plastered to the wall with no prior vision. Commentary is provided by Ted Cohen, the exhibit director and Rene de Guzman, Senior Curator of Art for the museum as they talk about what an honour it is for them to present Mcgee’s works at their gallery.
